Hey kids! Library has free activites

The Salem Public Library is hosting a special activities to occupy young minds and hands during the holiday break. Admission is free for all events.

Featured events include:

Tuesday, Dec. 20 – Pop-up card and last-minute gift making for children 5 years and older. 2 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 21 – Holiday paperback exchange. Book lovers of all ages are invited to bring 10 gently-used paperbacks to exchange for those brought by others. 2 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 22 – Winter holiday party. Holiday-themed stories, songs and a craft are all included. Attendees are encouraged to bring new or gently-used mittens for the YWCA Mitten Tree. 2 p.m.

Angry Birds Live. Middle- and high school-aged students are invited to bring the hit video game to life by launching puffballs at pig-laden fortresses. 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 23 – A screening of the 2009 version of A Christmas Carol. 2 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 27 – Book auction. Participants should bring a book in good condition to donate for $100 in “Auction Money” to be used to bids on books of their choice. 2 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 28 – Lego Adventures. Children 5 years and older are invited to let their imaginations soar on construct their wildest creations. 2 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 29 – Winter Wonderland Crafts. Children ages 5 and older are invited to participate in a variety of winter season crafts. 2 p.m.

Just Add Improv.  Middle- and high school-aged students are invited to a two-hour improv class from 3 to 5 p.m., and everyone is welcome for a public performance at 6 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 30 – A screening of the 2010 movie Tangled. 2 p.m.
