Marion County Fire District No. 1 firefighters/paramedics were reunited last week with a near drowning victim.
Three years ago MCFD responded to a reported drowning incident on Cordon Road. When they arrived they found a toddler that had just been pulled from a swimming pool by her grandmother. Paramedics performed life-saving measures and transported the little girl to Salem Hospital.
Through social media the victim’s mother reached out to the members of MCFD No. 1 to say thank you. During their visit they brought home-made jam as a token of thanks. Firefighters and the family exchanged stories from the event and discussed the little girl’s complete recovery.
The family states that Lillian, now 4, loves to swim, enjoys being around the water and has dreams of being on a swim team.
MCFD would like to remind everyone to always watch children in or near the water, wear life jackets and always place fencing around pools and spas.
